The Whiting was a medium-priced four-cylinder automobile named after James H Whiting, who had founded the Flint Wagon Works and had been a president of Buick. 

The first Whitings were a 20 hp Model A roadster and a 40 hp Model C touring both of which appeared in 1910. Four models were offered for 1911 and new models were announced for 1912. But Billy Durant bought the Flint Wagon Works to manufacture the Little car and the Whiting was discontinued.

Emblem

The Whiting cars in 1910-1911 displayed the "Whiting" name on a brass script attached to the radiator core. This can just be seen on the original Whiting photo shown below:

The following is an example of the Whiting radiator script. Original Whiting radiator scripts are very rare.

The Whiting script was also displayed on the Whiting serial plates, see example shown below. This Whiting serial plate is rare.

The small brass Whiting script in capital letters shown above at the top of this post and again below is covered in solder on the back and appears to have been used as a radiator emblem on some models. This Whiting radiator emblem is very rare.
