Dayton, Ohio

This is a Courier radiator emblem (1910-1912)     mjs
Size: 102mm wide 70mm high    MM: Greenduck

The Courier Car Company was a subsidiary of Stoddard-Dayton and the Courier car was simply a smaller and less expensive version of the Stoddard-Dayton (see Stoddard-Dayton). The first Courier cars appeared in 1910 and were 20 hp four-cylinder touring cars and roadsters with a single, rumble seat at the rear. By 1912, the cars had grown to 30 hp and were called Courier Clermonts.

Stoddard-Dayton was taken over by Benjamin Briscoe's United States Motor Company and the Courier was dropped when U.S. Motors failed.

Emblem

The white and red enamel Courier radiator emblem shown above is very rare. But, beware, as there are reproduction Courier emblems finished in different colors.
