Maurice Wolfe bought out the Clark Motor Car Company in 1912 and set up as the Meteor Motor Car Company. He moved to Piqua, Ohio and continued to produce a few Clark cars but from 1914 the cars were called Meteor. Most Meteors produced by Wolfe were hearses using Miller bodies and Meteor chassis. Passenger cars were offered from 1915 as touring and roadster models using six-cylinder engines. For 1916 a V-12 Meteor was also offered. From 1917 to 1930 passenger cars were available by special order only and production was concentrated on funeral cars and ambulances.

Wolfe also built the Mort as a smaller companion to the Meteor (see Mort).

Meteor ceased production of complete vehicles in 1932 but continued in business as coachwork builders. In 1941 Meteor built a 29-passenger transit bus but only one prototype was completed. In 1957 Meteor merged with Miller and became the Miller-Meteor Division of Divco-Wayne Corporation until 1979.

Emblems

The Meteor carried a blue and white enamel radiator emblem, see example above at the top of this post. I do not know the dates of use of the Meteor radiator emblems shown. The particular version of the Meteor radiator emblem shown above is rare.

The Meteor radiator emblem shown below is a larger emblem and has a stamped back with two threaded fixing studs. This Meteor radiator emblem is scarce.

The following is a variation of the previous Meteor radiator emblem. It has a slightly different style of lettering for the word "Meteor" and has a plain back with two threaded fixing studs. This Meteor radiator emblem is also scarce.

The following Meteor emblem is a thin brass, black painted emblem with two fixing holes and may have been used when Meteor became coachwork builders, but I cannot confirm this. This Meteor emblem is scarce.
