The Flint Motor Company was part of Billy Durant's automotive empire. The 65 hp six-cylinder Flint was introduced at the Hotel Commodore in New York City in January 1923. The first Flint cars were built in a Durant factory in Long Island, New York, before production was moved to plants in Elizabeth, New Jersey and in Flint, Michigan in 1924.

The Flint was offered at a competitive price in a range of body styles and sold reasonably well in its first full year in 1924. A smaller 49 hp companion car called the Flint 40 was introduced in March 1924 and in 1926 another, even smaller 40 hp companion, called the Flint Junior, arrived. But, after the initial start, sales fell dramatically in 1926.  Billy Durant was in financial trouble and sold his Flint plant to raise some cash. Production continued in New Jersey but sales fell further and the Flint was discontinued later in 1927.

Emblems

The Flint radiator emblems featured flint arrowhead motifs, although the Flint name was taken from the Flint Motor Company.

The blue and white enamel Flint radiator emblem shown above at the top of this post was used on all Flint models in 1923-1925. This Flint emblem is also seen used as a front bumper emblem on some surviving E-55 models, possibly as an accessory item.

A small change in the Flint radiator emblem design was introduced in 1926 with a more simplified and stylized arrowhead motif. The blue and white enamel Flint radiator emblem shown below was used on the larger Flint model 80 from 1926:
