The Stewart Motor Corporation was a manufacturer of commercial vehicles but, in 1915-1916, also produced a 29 hp six-cylinder passenger car offered as a seven-passenger touring car and a three passenger roadster.

The first Stewart trucks in 1912 were 3/4-ton capacity units powered by four-cylinder engines and with Renault-styled hoods and radiators behind the dashboard. In 1916 Stewart trucks were completely redesigned with conventional radiators and hoods and were available in 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton and 1-1/2-ton sizes. A 2-ton capacity model joined the line in 1917 with a 3-1/2-ton capacity model following in 1918. In 1921 a speed model was added and, in 1925, a six-cylinder 18- to 25-passenger bus chassis also appeared.

A new model in the 1926 range was the Buddy Stewart, a 3/4-ton speed model aimed at the light delivery market. The Buddy Stewart was made until 1930 and then reintroduced as a 1/2-ton model in 1935 which continued until 1937. Two new Stewart models were introduced in 1931, a 100 hp six-cylinder model and a 130 hp eight-cylinder model. The Stewart Eight had a basic 3-1/2-ton capacity and was made until 1937 with some special models built with capacities up to 8-tons. 

Stewart built their own bodies and in 1939 introduced the first aluminum panel body. In 1935 the smaller Stewart models were redesigned with streamlined cabs, although the larger models were more conservative. 

The best year for sales at Stewart was 1930. Then sales began to fall and was down to only 90 units in 1939. A new management took over Stewart and tried to concentrate on heavy trucks in the 3-ton to 7-ton capacity range in 1940/41 but few were actually built. It was all over for the Stewart in 1941.

Emblems

The first Stewart trucks and automobiles had distinctive Renault-styled hoods with radiators at the back behind the dashboard, so they were unlikely to have carried a radiator emblem. It is possible that the trucks displayed a nameplate at the rear but I cannot confirm this. 

From 1916, Stewart trucks had conventional hoods and brass radiators. There are no obvious radiator emblems shown in early illustrations of Stewart trucks but the "Stewart" name and script logo is seen displayed on a Stewart nameplate/serial plate attached to the body side below the entrance to the driver's cab, see example shown below:

By 1918, Stewart trucks had a heavy cast iron radiator with a "Stewart" radiator emblem cast into the radiator tank top, see surviving 1-ton Stewart truck example shown below:

The "Stewart" name was also displayed on a nameplate mounted on the rear chassis frame member and on the body side mounted Stewart serial plate, see below:

The following heavy cast iron Stewart nameplate may have been displayed at the rear of some heavy duty truck or fire engine models but I cannot confirm this:

From about 1923, smaller capacity Stewart trucks had brass radiators and carried a Stewart radiator emblem. Surprisingly, there are very few photos or illustrations of these trucks showing the emblem and none very clearly, see example shown below:

The following photo shows an un-restored Stewart fire truck from 1926 with a brass radiator carrying an oval shaped radiator emblem:

This emblem is the oval-shaped, black painted aluminum Stewart radiator emblem shown below. This Stewart radiator emblem is scarce.

The following photo shows a 1935 Stewart 1-1/2-ton truck showing the new radiator design with a die cast hood ornament including a small panel just above the top of the radiator grille which carries a radiator emblem. There is also a new hood side nameplate design.

The small rectangular Stewart radiator emblem shown above appears to have a painted finish. This Stewart radiator emblem is also found in brass, finished in black, as shown below, This Stewart radiator emblem is rare.
