The Milburn Wagon Company was established in Toledo in 1848 and entered the automotive business in 1914. The Milburn was a lightweight electric vehicle offered as coupe, roadster or light delivery models. The light delivery model was discontinued in 1915. The Millburn had to be recharged every 60 to 75 miles but by 1918 Milburn had mounted their batteries on rollers to eliminate the delay in recharging by allowing a quick change of batteries.

A serious fire at the Milburn plant in December 1919 caused major losses but production continued in a temporary plant. An electric taxicab was offered in 1920 as well as passenger cars but the market for electric vehicles had been in decline for some years and the main work of the company was now the production of automobile bodies, mostly for Oldsmobile. In February 1923 the Milburn plant was sold to General Motors and Milburn production ceased.

Emblems

The Milburn Electric was a smooth bodied motor vehicle and did not carry an emblem, see 1916 Milburn Electric coupe shown below:

The Milburn Electric did display the "Milburn" name on the foot plate cover, see example shown below:

The "Milburn" name was also displayed on the hubcaps, see example shown below:

The Milburn emblem shown above at the top of this post is believed to be a hub emblem, but I do not have any details. If you can identify and date this Milburn emblem, please let me know, in order to update this post.
